Syrah, closer in weight to many Northern Rhône wines than what we typically expect from Heathcote. It offers loads of spice, energy and drive, and the complex aromas and flavours of dark plum, olive, bay leaf and tobacco.
A wine that reflects our continued desire to produce wines of great finesse from a region historically known for powerhouse reds. The Syrah No. 2 comes mostly from short- and medium-length macerations (one to two weeks) and is made with 100% whole cluster, natural yeast fermentations and no sulphur additions until well after malolactic. Bottling occurred after 12 months aging in neutral oak and in a range of different formats: 1000lt, 2000lt, barriques, 500lt and 600lt. The result is a spicy, medium-bodied Syrah, closer in weight to many Northern Rhône wines than what we typically expect from Heathcote. It offers loads of spice, energy and drive, and the complex aromas and flavours of dark plum, olive, bay leaf and tobacco.

Classic, smooth, yet intense Barossa shiraz. Very bright black and red fruits along with dark chocolate and plums on what is a lush and inviting nose. There’s richness on the palate, depth of flavour and spice too.
Another remarkable bargain made by former maker of Grange and 2 time Jimmy Watson Winner Mike Farmilo.
Calvert Vineyard is located just two km east of the Elms Vineyard on Felton Road. The gentle north-east facing slope lies immediately below the hills of the Bannockburn Gold Sluicings, now a historic park. The tailraces of Bailey’s and Pipeclay Gullys’, that carried away massive amounts of sluiced gold workings, flank the vineyard to the west and east respectively and provide helpful cold air drainage to minimise frost risk. The vineyard land had been home to a few sheep, rabbits and briar bushes prior to the planting of vines in 2001. Felton Road started leasing the entire Calvert Vineyard in 2001 (10.2ha) and in 2013 purchased outright the Willows, Springs and Aurum Blocks totalling 4.6 ha of Pinot Noir.
