Eden Road’s flagship Chardonnay champions the finest fruit from the Maragle and Courabyra vineyards in Tumbarumba. The lion’s share of the 2018 comes from the cooler, gently rolling slopes of Courabyra (60%); the balance from the breezy, lower-lying Maragle vineyard. All the fruit was handpicked, whole bunch pressed and transferred directly into French oak barrels (30% new) for fermentation on full solids. Rousseau takes a more intuitive approach to MLF and batonnage. There were no sulphur additions until bottling. Still opening but already shows a lovely, creamy texture with fine, bright, underlying fruit (nectarine and ripe citrus). Shows the classy hand of a talented winemake
